Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (see definitions) is the fastest growing field in computer science, and health informatics is among the most important application domains.
Machine Learning & and Knowledge Extraction (MAKE), following the HCI-KDD approach, involves a concerted effort of topics ranging from data pre-processing to visualization. In a joint effort with our international research colleagues, we are interested in theoretical, algorithmic, and experimental studies towards understanding intelligence aiming at context-adaptive systems. We support the international machine learning research community with contributions to explainable-AI. We follow our guiding motto: Science is to test crazy ideas – Engineering is to put these ideas into Business. We enjoy thinking and we consider us as problem solvers – and we are proud of tackling challenging topics. Most of all: We just do it!
Summer 2019: WE ARE HIRING! We are on talent scouting. In case you are interested to join our group and work on human-centered AI topics with application in the medical domain, please proceed to: http://hci-kdd.org/scientific-working-for-students
Our leitmotif is: “Augmenting human intelligence with artificial intelligence”
“The most rewarding research is the one that delights the thinker and at the same time is beneficial to humankind” (Christian DOPPLER, 1803‐1853, Austrian Mathematician and Physicist).
Consequently, we are devoted to our guiding principle: “Science is to test crazy ideas – Engineering is to put these ideas into Business” A.Holzinger, 2011, Successful Management of R&D
